Margaret S Milligan, oil and pastel painter, living and working in Kirkcudbright, South West Scotland.
"In all my work, I aim to capture the feeling of light - my favourite medium is soft pastel, captivating light effects can be achieved with multi layers of shimmering colour.
Unveiling a completed child portrait is particularly heartwarming. My aim is not only a likeness but also the essence of the child's character. In my pet portrait commissions each animal has it's own character too.
I particularly love life drawing and in the last year have organised well attended courses - nothing improves your drawing more than drawing the human form from life.
I am studying still life and how the play of light transforms every day objects into visions of beauty. I am also returning to oils, using the knowledge of colour I have gleaned in my pastel work.
